Gambit was always the second most popular X'er after Wolverine, could probably pull off a solo movie.

I think mystique is the only character that has marketable potential. maybe, just maybe nightcrawler. other than that, all the other characters were pretty weak and lacked any depth.

even halle barry would fail in a spin off of storm, imo.

Yes because they wouldn't be expected to carry the movie by themselves. Wolverine is chokefull of other mutants. Those films would be similar.

I also see no problem switching out actors/actress either
 
I don't know about that. wolverine was the main draw because he can carry the movie. the others wouldn't have the same drawing power even with other mutants. and it would be embarrassing to the main character if other mutants were a better character.

I bet that any other character would fail to live up to the test. who is intriguing enough to make a movie out of?

like who would you like to see? the xmen characters are all bland and weak. they'd have to seriously pick a good actor/actress and make sure the plot and story was solid to have a chance. and I just really doubt they can do that. the marketability just isn't really there.

I think avengers did it right. do each movie first, then come together as a team for a blockbuster
 
I forgot to mention gambit. yes I agree with you.

but not Cyclops. at least not with that guy who played Cyclops. I guarantee that will be a flop if they stayed with him
 
btw, I don't know why the xmen movies left out gambit,........... why would you leave out probably the second most famous xmen character?
