Get a hand fed Green Cheek Conure. Buy from a breeder and if possible become best friends with your bird while he is still eating baby food and too young to come home with you. Visit your bird often and you will not believe the transformation when he leaves the noisy bird store and becomes part of your flock. Green Cheeks have a BIG personality in a small package. They also can become good talkers! Mine constantly asks us "whacha doin!" Whats funny is that everyone answers him! Just remember that birds require attention and time outside of the cage (it's best to keep their flight feathers clipped). And as Red Devil LIZ said a clean cage and clean water every day is a must. This is my green cheek conure Louie..

my brothers was originally nippy, but learned to trust my brother. After spending i month home from school, he got use to me, and I could take him out and interact with him (were he likes climbing up my shoulder, and playing with my earlobes :irked:). Whenever I go up to his cage, he will run up the side, place his beak on the side, and pook part of the top of his head out of the cage, where he likes to be petted. They are really fun birds. lol I remember when its wings got long, and my brother would run away from him, and the parrot would follow, and fly onto his shoulder.

i one went to a store where most of the birds lived in open top cages, their wing were clipped so the couldnt fly and they were all pretty well behaved.
after a few mins. i noticed a macaw that had a good deal of feathers missing, i asked why and the employee pointed at an isolation cage where aggressive birds were kept and said: "they gained up on him" in thee cage were two green cheeks:ROFL:

what a story

So did you ever get a bird??
I had a green cheek. He just died - he was 18. Meanest little you know what. He was given to me by someone who got tired of paying peoples medical bills for stitches. (He was 2 and a hand fed baby) But he talked and loved to play basketball. My daughter could do whatever she wanted with that goofy bird.

sorry to hear that
