Just wondering what works better for bio-filtration in a canister filter. Bio max, pot scrubbers, Seachem Matrix, ect.

I know pot scrubbers work great in wet/dry situation but I wonder if their effectiveness is great diminished when there completely submerged. Just like bio balls.

Let me know your opinion and why.

I use seachem matrix because its the most readily available. but PongGuru on youtube has some amazing stuff that I'm really interested. It's his own media called biohome or something. You should definitely check it out because he recently said that he's working on getting a distributor in the US to cut down on shipping costs from the UK

Put scrubbers are effective submersed. They have more surface area per dollar spent than anything. BB will stick just fine.

I used Eheim coco puffs balls.

Are pot scrubbers more effective then Bio Max. I know they flow better which is a big plus with any canister.

Pot scrubbers will never compare to any high quality ceramic media. There are pros and cons of both but a properly set up canister with ceramic media will by far out preform pot scrubbers for the volume.

Pot scrubbers are not as effective as ceramic short term. I think any ceramic media is better. What scrubbers have going for them is they are ultra cheap and don't clog. Ceramics clog after a year or so and have to be replaced. And the good ones aren't cheap.
