What do you guys think the best biomedia is, for a canister or HOB? Every filter brand makes their own, and I'm curious if one brand is better than others.

There isn't a 'Best' :D only opinions, until you can compare apples to apples which takes a lab to do unfortunately.

There are several past threads on this here that go into detail.

i agree.

I guess all we can do is add personal opinion. I have had the best luck with sintered glass, huge surface area... never had a problem with it clogging or needing to be cleaned.

Eheim's Ehifisubstrat (spelling?) and Fluval's Biomax seem to be the favorites

There are several different brands of biomedia on the market and all will usually perform well. This is because all will provide surface area, etc., which exceeds the demands of the tanks. However, the most efficient particle shape is "spherical". So, from a theoretical perspective, the best is Eheim's Ehfisubstrat Pro.....no question.

I agree. I use this in my XP3, and love it.

Probably depends on the canister. The last few Pro-2, 3x 2026 an 1x 2028, canisters I've bought came with it.
