Ok, I decided that a need a book with the L numbers of plecos illustrated. What book should I buy? I think there is an Aqualog along with a cheaper book on these. Thanks

The 'best' as far as L numbers is the datz book. Datz created the L number system. Aqualog is very good too, and is the book I prefer. Finally there is a new aquarium atlas of catfish that is focused around the loricariidae family, however it is only in german.

Agreed 100%. You can pick up a copy for 1/4 the price of the aqualog, which will definately have some wrong IDs. :)

Yea, the aqualog have some fish muddled up with others that appear in the Datz.

Looks like I am getting the new edition Aqualog book for $69. It was listed for this on Ebay and I am the only one that bid. Thanks. I can't wait to learn about all these plecos.

The aqualog is very good. Contact blue at exoticfinds.net, in our community sellers, and you can get the datz book from him for $40 if I remember correctly.

Not true. I have seen many entries that are wrong on planetcatfish. They also lack quite a few species of loricariidae.

Everybody is wrong sometimes, but for the most part theyre good... I like it at least. Its a good reference, but there must be better sources.
