I have a standard 125 gallon tank that has 2 baby Tiger Oscars and I am looking for a bottom feeder that can grow with them without fear of getting eaten, I am looking for any suggestions that would work.

Though I feel 2 oscars is already quite a bio load in a 125, if you’re extra vigilant on water quality a synodontis euruptus or featherfin cat would be able to hold his own. They don’t get super big either. You really would have to be extra careful with the water parameters.

Welcome aboard

Personally wouldn't add any bottom feeder because as the Oscars grow as mentioned above the bioload will increase. Weekly water changes and substrate siphon cleaning would be best imo. Also Oscars grow fast and will attempt to eat anything small enough to fit in their large mouth.

If you ask me, all you need in that tank are Malaysian trumpet snails. I've found them to be excellent at breaking down food scraps and even fish waste in my cichlid tanks. And they will only populate to the level of available food. Great substrate feeders and clean up crew that you don't have to feed or maintain. They mainly come out at night so you'll hardly know they are there, and bigger cichlids totally ignore them. No large plecos adding waste, or other fish for the Oscar's to mess with. I have them in all my tanks now.
