Best bottom feeder with my fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sun catfish that has doubled in size almost in 3 months since i got it, and a flagtail. the flagtail absolutely destroys any algae.
they do get huge, but they also take an extremely long time to grow.

Im a huge fan of the sydontis eupterus. They hold up well in cichlid tanks, can hold their own in a fight and are drop dead gorgeous to boot. As for cleaning they like anything meaty. excess cichlid pellets will work, and shrimp pellets to supplement.

Another choice I love if you can find them, and this is a huge if. Ive only ever seen 2 healthy specimens in my area large enough to put in my tank and I quickly bought both, well I traded a 14" clown knife for one. The species is sun catfish or eclipse catfish, or spot catfish. Whatever they call em. They are just gorgeous and have a wonderful personality rivalling that of most cichlids. They grow quickly and can definitely hold their own.

I just got a bigger pleco, about 5 inches and they are leaving it alone. Hopefully we have a winner. I can't think of any other reason the other plecos would have died, I saw the jd rip the tail off so that's my best guess

Yeah I don't know if the sailfin is worth the extra money, if a fish wants to kill a bottom feeder it won't matter if it's a pleco or sailfin I think it's more up to the determinedness of the cich. My roommate has a dovii that recently laid waste to a foot and half sailfin.
