Best brand of filter/Filter help??

I would recommend you get an eheim classic...go a bit bigger than you need. It will come in useful 10+ years down the line when you realize it's still the best purchase you ever made.

I need a suggestion on a filter for my 40g tank. Im still kinda confused on the whole filter, I know its purpose, im jst confused on the different types ( Power, Canister, Wet/Dry)

A canister filter is just that, a canister. There will be a container, in most cases it's shaped like a cylinder or rectangle that containes filter media. A pump that is part of the canister assembly pumps water through it and back into your tank. A wet/dry filteralso referred to as a sump is a smaller tank that is usually stored under the main tank. Water flows from the main tank into the sump by means of an overflow or siphon where it will pass over/through various filter medias and then be pumped back into your tank. I good simple filter for a 40G IMO would be a HOT Magnum that will run you about $50 online. It is a smaller sized canister that hangs right on the side/back of that tank.

HOT magnums are fantastic mechanical filters, but have ZERO biological filtration capability. If its a 40g breeder, I say 2) AC70's or AC110's. If you just have to have a canister, the Cascade 700 is a great, cheap canister.

You have lost your ever-lovin mind homie!!!!!! Forget about Penguins & bio-wheels & all that garbage!!!! Go with AquaClear brand HOB filters. They are the best designed, easiest & cheapest to maintain. Do some research & you will see that I'm not trying to lead you astray!!!!!!!
