Im looking for a camera to take pictures of my Cichlids, and also use for parties and weddings. I am on a budget and only have around $250. I need one with a rechargeable battery and a charger. I can buy the memory card another time if it, doesent come with one. Any ideas?

the canon powershots have the lithium ion recharable batteries that last really well, and they only take 2 hours to charge back up to full.

I have the canon SD800 IS but it was pricey but takes amazing pics, even has an 'aquarium mode' that works really well.

however, there are other SD models from canon that would be good, and not as hard on the pocketbook.

Should I take a look at these at the cannon website, or should i take a look at bestbuy.com? Or is there a difference?

I dont really like the powershots all that much I have to admit they do take good pictures but i'd rather go with Olympus. If your willing to spend 500 bucks buy a Olympus Ultra Zoom 7.1-Megapixel Digital Camera. Got it for christmas from parents and works great. Also simple to use and crystal clear photos.

I too looked at the olympus 710 stylus but the one thing I didn't like about it was the lack of an optical viewfinder.

its getting rarer in today's digitials but the canon has one, although it is small.

its a nice feature to have, although you may not use it very often, its there if you need it :)

I think the olympus has an aquarium mode too.

a lot of the newer cameras having the aquarium modes now. yay!

the one thing I don't like about the canon (SD800) is that it is SO user friendly it is relatively easy to delete pics.

ie two quick clicks and its gone.

on other cameras it is like a 4 step process, and although it is a pain in the ass, its a little better IMO as it prevents someone from accidently deleting a pic (although the lock feature will prevent this I think).

the other thing I hope Olympus changed is the menu function. on the older olympus cameras, they would come up over top of the image itself, making the words of the menu difficult to read.

hopefully they have improved on that too.
