try ebay or look at ads.

most stores have camera displays. or you know what? talk to girls. they almost always have a camera. and you can meet chicks. ask them what they have and what they recomend.
 
I have a Koday Easyshare Z710, 7.1 MP and it works wonderfully. It was a Christmas gift to myself and was around $260.
I take wonderful pictures of my Oscars and such.
