Only downside to the XP3 that a couple of friends and i have had is reduced flow after a bit.

I usually have to clean it out every 2 weeks to maintain the flow at maximum, otherwise i believe the flow would only be half of what it should be. But meh, cleaning out this filter is very simple and i dont mind.

I have heard good things about the eheim classic 2217, but it seems a bit oldschool for me and doesnt even come with quick disconnects, and i have heard the hosing is very short. The eheims sometimes dont get cleaned in 3 months and they still have very good flow vs the Rena. They also waste less electricity

This is exactly what I was going to say.....The two Eheim 2217s I run do an amazing job and even being fully packed the flow rate is great for 3-4 months only down side is they are a little more annoying to disconnect. The XP3 that I have is great for 3-4 weeks then flow rate goes down by at least half, but its an easier filter to service. My vote is for the Eheim 2217.

get a fluval canister and a marineland HOB filter. I'm running a Fluval 305, 404 and Penguin 350 in my 75 Dat growout.

I have a penguin 350 and an AC110 on my tank...

Their is no way the marineland can compete with the ac 110. The mech on the marineland is complete garbage as well, while the AC110 is a 2-3 inch sponge.

I vote Eheim 2217 also. I have three of them (two on a 180g and one on a 65g) and they've worked flawlessly.
