OK I have a 180 gallon. My fx5 has a TINY TINY TINY leak somewhere. Spitting out micro bubbles like no other. Im done trying to fix it. What is the best canister for preformance and price out there ?

Id like to only run one canister and maybe a HOB together. I dont really want to go buy a new fx5. Ive allways considerd a sump. are they quiet ? my tank is NOT drilled.

What have you done to try to stop the leak and the micro bubbles?

If it's leaking, it could be that the gasket (rubber ring) around the top of the lid isn't on properly or maybe it's not on at all. Or maybe the fasteners aren't on tight enough.

For the micro bubbles, try tilting the canister to get the extra air out. I've also tried unplugging it a few times to get all the air out.

Mine dies that too. It's bc of the media restricting the flow. The center baskets should be bio media or carbon and such. No sponges unless your cleaning it very frequently

Purchased my first CANISTER filter EVER a few years ago after using AC110's exclusively my whole life, (still the best HOB in the world). It was the Eheim Pro3E 2078.

I had 3 of them on a 150G, they cost me a ton and I don't have a lot of cash, but it was worth it. Sold the whole setup years back, building a new 90G starting all over and you guessed it I'm running two more Eheim Pro3E 2078's.

There super quiet run fantastic, I just cannot say anything bad about them.

I did run them on a very understocked tank, bare bottom, but still they worked flawless the entire time.
