for what it's worth c. wendtii grows differently depending on the lighting ... in my low-light tanks, it tends to grow wide and throw off runners, stays around 4" ... only in my higher-light tanks does it grow tall ...

I am comfortable considering it as a carpet-type plant for a low-light tank ... and leaves are thick, and it doesn't require any trimming ...

maybe not the ideal, but it works for me ...

Gets to tall, in order to acheive shorter leaves group them in 3's. But still not the look you're going for.l

dwarf sags....are not really dwarf. they can and do get taller than 4". i have some that got up to about 10"

Actually, if the plant is in an area where there is not enough light, it will fight for it. Thats why tanks with dwarf sag as a foreground plant normally has plants ranging from 3" to 6" inches depending on the amount of available light in the area.

Back to my original question is the 48W light fixture Normal Output or High Output? 48w OF ANY light on 29g IS NOT low light, this would actually be concidered Med lighting. Since the OP posted it was a TALL tank you also have to take in consideration distance from the LIGHT to the top of the substrate. So OP, what is the distance from the light fixture to the substrate? I guess my Wendtii is the HULK

Agree...Find some slate rock and Christmas / java moss and use mesh to hold it in place.

I have an aquatic life 30" T5 HO light, on a standard 29g.

I was at my LFS the other day, and actually think I'm going to go with pygmy chain sword. One more thing that needs to be considered is that my tank is 83-84*F for the rams.

Thanks for all the help, I'm going to look into taller plants once I get a carpet established. I'm also going to be dosing with Flourish/Flourish excel. Dont mind the random plants in there, $3/The pleco that was temporarily in the tank for a few days had a nice meal...

My stock is 2 blue rams, 7 cardinal tetras, and an oto. Don't plan on adding anything but plants, at least for a while.
