well youve come to the right thread, what size tank are you looking for a cat for? if a 55gallon then there are some great suggestions. feel free to read away, but if its a diff. size tank it might be helpful to list it.

i bought 2 4" featherfins for $6 a piece

Suncats are not good for a 55g tank for life they will reach well over 12". While it does take them a long time to grow, for life they are not the best...

I agree with just sizing up to a 75 gal. It would basically fit in any space you have set aside for a 55 just you will have a lot more options for small catfish. Truth be told there is no catfish that get to a descent size that I would recommend for a 55 unless it's a growout. If you went 75 gal I'd go with sun cats, a lima would live in a 75 for a few years, but would eventually need upgraded as I'm finding out with my lima. It's 16" after just 3 years with no signs of growth stopping. Stone cats would work in a 75 also, no heater required, and just keep them in a cool spot in your house.

BTW my favorite catfish I've ever kept was a Sorubimicthys planiceps. Very amazing growth rate. Second to none on coloration, and an attitude to match. Bury themselves on the bottom given the right substrate

Personally, I would stay away from the Eupterus, unless it's in a tank by itself. The eupterus I've had for the last two years has killed at least two fish by stressing them the hell out.. I've now moved him into my 'predatory' tank, so he can try to bully a huge Distichodus... :)
Bear in mind that you are asking this question on monsterfishkeepers.. therefore we are all going to suggest, although small for some of our tanks, larger fish, as that's what we are all into.
For a 55g personally I would go for a syno (not eupterus!), as they do have really nice personalities.. or maybe a smaller pim.

most spotted pictus dont get over 5 inches. except for the 4-line....those on the other hand...
