Hi guys, first post on here although been reading the posts for ages!

Just planning our monster tank, 9ft x 3ft x 2ft, planning on a couple of rays, a peacock bass and a cat of some type, just wondering what cichlids you'd recommend to put in?
1 perhaps 2 for some colour and variation.

Peacock bass are cichlids.
Also, I would recommend an oscar or a few severums.

Any would work, whichever color you like best. They all get about the same size and have similar temperament. Turquoise/Green tend to be the meanest, so it may hold its own better, but red shoulders are the nicest looking imo.

By Stoni, do you mean the rift lake African Nimbochromis livingstoni? Or something else altogether.
I agree they are beautiful but....

Beside being from a totally different continent than the fish of the OPs biotope, they also come from opposite water types.
The livingstoni cichlids come from the hard, high pH, mineral rich waters of the rift.
And all the other preferred fish mentioned come from the soft, low pH, mineral poor waters of the Amazon basin.
Trying to keep these opposites together might cause health problems for one or the other depending on the OPs tap water parameters.

On another point any Geophagines of the juripari clade or altifrons group, will be constantly sifting sand, so the need for some other substrate hugging sand mover is quite unnecessary.
