Best cichlids for breeding

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah i wasn't really looking for much money just something that would be worth breeding because i cant even get rid of convicts. I was looking for something that would sell for something i don't really care if its not very much.

I have a 75 and a 50 i could use but only one or the other and i have a 30 gallon that could be used for the fry to grow

IMO you could do angels. Always in demand so they will be easy to sell. Not a big initial investment and plenty of fry once u get them breeding. Find some strains that r in high demand like platinum, black, blue or red koi

+1 thats a good idea ,less agression is good +theyre cool fish

You can breed Amphilophus Lyonsi in a 75. They are very beautiful, relatively peaceful and not common. All the Lyonsi owners here have nothing but good things to say about em. They are also endangered in the wild so you would be doing a good thing by helping preserve their species.

I think Gage from Cichlid Connection currently has a young breeding pair for sale at $100. He's a vendor here.

A super easy one to breed is the Jewel Cichlid. They aren't worth a TON, but I used to breed them and sell them to a local fish store. Made a lot more than I put into it! But you have to make sure you have a reliable customer, cuz there isn't a huge demand for them in the real world, best to find a store that will buy them. But you can buy the initial school for 2-5 bucks a piece and they breed very easily. And the males get BEAUTIFUL during breeding time!
