i need some cichlids to go with my cons, these cons really mean alot to me especially the female !! she is gorgeous ;) the cichlids i like are midas, GT, JD, Texas , i have a few tanks running now so i can always give them their own tanks if needed. this option is not preferred though. they are kinda small right now male is 2.5'' and female is 1.5. also if you guys have any tips on how i can get them to pair becuz the male paired with a smaller female cons and i broke them up aha but he won't take the Hrp female. should i remove him? put them in a separate tank for now? or rearrange the tank?

i have a 110, 100, 55, and a 250 . and a few smaller tanks 10-30 gallons. they would most likely go into the 110 aka 125G

I'd say go for one of each. I have hear stories of breeding cons holding down 3/4's of a 180 before, but I wouldn't say that's the norm. Add some dithers, too.

are they HRPs or are they convicts? Im on the side that doesnt believe they are the same fish.

Spawning HRPs are less aggressive than spawning cons.

Ive had both in small and large tanks and HRPs have never taken over a tank like cons do...never.

I have or have had HRPs & cons with just about every cichlid Ive kept, so Id say they can work with most everything. Strong enough to hold their own yet passive enough to not take over a tank.

they are 75% Hrp and 25% pink Con. can they hold their own against a dovii?

They pugnacious pound for pound...but I don't think they'd stand a chance against a dovii.:grinno:
