1 flag tail and a couple of silver dollars. I don't feed them and the get big quick, not even a small scrap left.

Ime I've had success with catfish and bichirs to eat leftovers, and silver dollars as competition for food and dithers. A giraffe cat will definantly outgrow your cichla and Im pretty sure it will out eat them. Ive had success with a juruense cat, and a vulture cat they don't get as big as a giraffe, but eat more than a raphael cat.

Better have a dang big tank for a giraffe. They hit 30" pretty easy. I am happy, from a clean up standpoint, with my common pleco. (not at all attractive) My Bichir does a good back up job.

My problem with plecos is (any one who has one in a BB tank can testify) that they are poop machines and their crap does not dissipate and is heavy. The one I have now I hate because he craps a ton.

I use giraffe nosed cat in one of my tanks, geo's in another, bichers in another tank, and clown loaches in another they all seem to do a good job of cleaning up after messy eaters.
