im a big fan of DIY Co2!

however, it will have little to no effect on a 300 gallon.

What does?

When you have a set up that needs Co2 injection this means that you already have a High tech light set up. And that your plants are on the high end of the scale as far as required care needed.

IMO the definition of high tech planted aquarium would be if you need/have a

High WPG PC or t5ho light set up
Pressurized Co2 injection
harder to care for plants

If I am wrong, then what low light plants NEED co2 injection? Because low light usually means low tech.

Lowlight plants do not NEED CO2,but they certainly benefit from it.
Hight tech planted tanks have high light,4wpg or more,and pressurized CO2.
If you have the right dosing,light,photo period,and pressurized CO2,there is nothing that cannot be grown in 2wpg.
Having CO2 alone opens the possibilities of being able to keep just about any plant you want,despite what WPG you have.
