Hikari Micro Pellets are by far the best. Its amazing stuff, and now that they aren't selling it in Canada i don't know what im going to do.

http://www.hikari.info/tropical/t_02.html

My second choice would be Omega One pellets or their color enchancing flakes.
Third is probably New Life Spectrum Community Pellets.

u can still get Hikari food in Canada, its just that some retailers are not getting it anymore. the people i know are still importing it. i even emailed Hikari myself and they explained the whole situation to me.

Kens tropheus lovers flake.
Kens premium tropical flake
NLS 1mm cichlid pellet.

Those 3 make up the bulk of the diet of most of my fish.

I got 5lbs of 6mm pellet and 5lbs of 1mm pellet from a friend that runs a tang cichlid hatchery and its great stuff but I have no idea who makes it for him.

blood worms. There's a LFS that has em live close by where I live and the fish love them! Plus the blood worms spread out so not all of the top feeders don't eat them all and the bottom dwellers get some :-) Plus I believe they are pretty healthy. Just don't feed em too often with live blood worms, they get spoiled and stop taking the flakes...

Oh dear... most community fish, when fed primarily blood worms, don't have good diets. They need a more plant matter, or something like that.

In my opinion, for community fish, it doesn't really matter what kind of food you feed them, as long it's mostly a high-quality flake diet.

i agree!!

now what are they!!?! :D

ive tried a few brands. . . aquarian, hikari and kingfisher flakes. but always go back to tetrmin flakes. all my fish seem to go crazy for the stuff and i get amazing results from these.
i gave my flagtail characin to my cousin laest year and it was 3.5-4'' long and he fed it aquarian and tetramin sinking granules. after him having it for 3 months it didnt grow an inch. so i tookit back under my care and put him in a 3ft tank all by himself on a power-feeding programme. i fed this fish 4 times a day on tetraminflakes in large amounts and 4 months later he shot up to a 12'' beast. must be the 47% quality protein and tetra vitamins that boosted the growth. and colours were intense.
i reccommend this brand.

i feed tetramin tropical flakes to my guppies and tetra. they all love it too. were talking about the tropical flakes right?

i want something exactly like that but sicking!!! i was thinking about crushing up hikari massivore but i wanna see if there's another option.

I have over 20 different types of fish food in my collection. However, what works best for my community tank fish is NLS (1mm) and Omega One Super Veggie Flakes. They love this combination and it gives them a well rounded diet.

does Ken's ship to Canada?

Yes, but if your order gets checked at the border it will be confiscated & destroyed. No one can import pet food (including fish food) into Canada now unless they hold a valid permit from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Hence Hikari's current situation in Canada.
