Awesome mom! Just remember these kinda things as you grow older and never forget what your parents have done for you!
My parents bought me my first fish tank when I was 13 and now (almost 15 years later) they regret ever getting me into it because they see how crazy it's gotten.

I always had fish growing up, and I got out of it for a little. Then I moved in with my now fiance, and he wasn't willing on getting a dog, so the week he went out to Texas for work, I managed to get a 5 gallon tank for free, and I went and bought Frank and Paul. Those are my 2 VERY fancy comets... (didn't know they couldn't be housed in a small tank.)
I didn't tell him this, and before he came home he called me and told me that when he got home we were going to get a kitten since I am the stay at home type deal. So before we moved out of that place into where we live now, we had the goldies, a cat, and a puppy. haha.
NOW, 2 years later, and a new house that we own, I have the following:
5 pitbulls, 3 cats, a 30 gallon, 1 55 gallon, a 75 gallon, and a 1500 gallon. Not to mention the 10,000 gallon pond being installed!
I love fish. But, I am glad to say that I can get a NEW 75 gallon up here for $200 complete with everything but stand and filter.
