Best Dithers for Grammodes??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
bunches o' neons! naw just kidding
the tigers wouldn't nip the dovii if there are like 4-5 of them. (and they look better IMO)

Balton-

What size do those guys get to??

BIGGourami:

When I said Dovii, I meant to say Grammodes are know as "Mini Dovii" Due to their temperment and Much smaller size.

thank you, keep em comming!

Filament Barbs grow about 6" max. Imagine a full grown Roseline shark but twice the thickness. They're active schooling swimmers but are big enough not to come off as hyper....and they're not skittish like Silver Dollars. They'll swim around 24/7, I swear these guys never sleep. Filament barbs are especially good with large aggressive cichlids to help keep the peace. And also great with my Jag, i.e.-haven't been eaten yet lol. Imo, they're the best targets, or dithers whichever you need them for, a guy could ask for.

I don't know if they're the same or not. I've never heard of a coppernose barb or tetra. Try googling barbus filamentosa for more info. Let me know if it's the same. Here's some for a comparison. These are 6". The ones posted up there are apx 3" and in another tank.

LFS??

Cost??

Just Ballpark........

Thanks-

Chris

$15.00 each (3") or 3 for $36.00. I bought 6 and he threw in a 7th no charge at The Fish Gallery in Dallas TX. I've seen full grown Filament Barbs for $30-$35. Cost less than Roseline sharks but more than Silver Dollars but they're better than either.

Last year I sold a pair for $100.

Dang Brother! I want to bring out their shyness, not offer the a expensive dinner! (and their not even gonna get me l**d!) Are the tough enough? Are they nippers? Like Tiger Barbs?? If they are as nice as you say, I have no issue spending the money, I just don't light my Stogys with 100's either! I Don't want to put 3-4 in there for $60.00 and have em killed in 2 days . (Or worse, pull a Giant Danio thing, and my cat is waiting by the tank for "Gifts from the sky!!")

:headbang2

LOL that's what happened to my Roseline sharks, I put 3 fully grown 6"-er's in and my Jag ate them. Either the Filament Barbs are tough as nails or too quick to be touched. I've had F. Barbs with lots of different large aggressive cichlids. If you keep a small group they'll be nippy with each other as juvies, not so much as adults. They've never bit on any of my cichlids. They constantly swim the tank and the big fish seem to leave them alone. Somehow it disperses the aggression with them in there though. One thing to note, at feeding time they're soooo quick and can eat a lot. I've tried many different targets and these are the best. I wouldn't reccommend them so strongly if I didn't think so. Can you find any though?....that's the question. If you do, you should snatch them up quick. They would be at their best in your 125g.

The SD's are getting HUGE!, No Problem tho, I can disperse them out among my other 2 tanks that need dithers. If I can find these Filament Barbs that is!

Recommendation?

Where did you get yours??

Thanks again-
