Hello everyone!

As the title suggests, i want to make a good food for my ca and sa cichlids as in my country high quality fish pellet brands like - New life spectrum and Northfin are not available.

Only good fish food brand available here is hikari which is quite expensive here.

So i thought to make my own fish food as i think i can make something better for my fishes for half the price and no fillers.

Please see the ingredients mentioned below and tell me whether the ingredients i chose are good and what should i add or subtract from the ingredients.

Ingredients - Tilapia fillets,dried krill, laminaria kelp,mealworms,spirulina powder,garlic,multi-vitamin tablet,fish oil,vitamin-c tablet and agar-agar powder.

Please do tell at what quantity should i add each ingredient so i can accomplish a balanced diet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Might want to tailor it to what type species of cichlids you have.
There are those that are primarily vegetarians, like Uaru, Cincelichthys, severums, even most Vieja.
There are those like Parachromis, Crenicichla, Cichla that are carnivores.
and omnivores that are basically all the rest give or take.

The fishes that i want to make the food for are - Green terror, blood parrot and red jewel cichlids.

Please do tell at what quantity should i add these ingredients to fit there needs.

Just see what works. I would start with 2/3 kelp to 1/3 protein ratio, combine then (with a meat grinder or food chopper) then add spirulina and gelatin solution (2.5 teaspoons of dry agar). Flatten in a zip loc or silicon molds (like use to make chocolate) and freeze.

Thank you for replying!
So i should take for example, 60 grams of kelp with 30 grams of protein sourced from Tilapia/krill?
