Best Exernal Canister Filter for the Money?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
eheim classics are IMO the best. However Via Aqua is modeled exactly like EHEIM. I have a via aqua cannister too. They work very well. Eheim is the best. You get what you pay for.

just picked up a couple eheim classics at big als year end almost half off not as nice as the eheim wet dry i have but nice for my small tanks

also buy eheim now or you will pay later i was told by the owner that the price is going up large soon something to do with the ecomony

Howdy,

There is only one: EHEIM

They are a bit more expensive, but they outlast most other filters. Just calculate the average monthly cost if it lasts >15 years. No kidding. My old Eheim 2211 has been running since 1990, and I have not had to replace a single part. Except for the ceramic axle which I stepped on during cleaning ...

We all know Eheim is the best, but they are very expensive and there are plenty of other brands out there that will do the job fine for a lot less money, I think this is what the original poster is looking for. It's pretty obvious these days what are quality brands, its the good value brands that are harder to find.

My new 220g whole setup cost less to put together than one Eheim Pro canister filter

You dont need the best brand names in the business just to get the job done ;)
