I would go with the Aqua C one personally great protein skimmer easy to work with and well used from the best of aquarist's

I've been researching like you have for a skimmer and all of the better name brands out there have someone using them and saying they love them for one reason or another. I asked about ASM's on another forum and got nothing but good reports about those skimmers and so i will build one on that style with the sedra pumps only because I can save 250 bucks or so. I think ASM is the best dollar value myself, but only by hear say and reading.
