Best fake plants

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got plants from michaels craft store (Canada). They had a big sale and I spent about 20-30$ and picked up some bigger taller plants. Anything over 16” is over $50 in a pet store in my city

I just added Aquatop silicon plants to my 75 gallon growout and they look pretty decent.

A bit closer up. The plants have a texture on one side. They sway in the current like real.

I had posted the pics on a different site and I had someone who raises live plants ask what kind they were. The picture fooled him.

Are those the vallisneria?

Another one I use in my 300g is made by WECO.

This one is a ruffled sword and they are available in up to 30" the one shown here is the 18"

The downfall? These use an air-stone base. The connector you will want to cut off. Also the plant will over time come loose from this sandy base so best thing is to dry it out and then aquarium silicone it to the base. These are fairly reasonable priced plants considering the life has been a few years now and they are showing no signs of degrading or breaking down. Not a perfect plant but pretty "real" looking and comes in large sizes that make an impact in large tanks.

Are there any silicone type floating or ground cover mats... hair grass etc. available that look decent?

I have these. They are heavily weighted so they do stay put even with the cichlids. Each of the clumps on top picture are roughly fist sized and I think they were about $5-6 each.
