I got a full set up at Wal-mart for about $20. Granted, mine was a little 5 gallon, but it came with the filter, hood, light and chemicals. It's my new night light.

the feeders are for my rays and polys. i would like to avoid gold fish.
i would prefer the following:

rosy reds, guppies, convicts or some type of minnow

that would be pretty cool! any specific cray fish u had in mind? would a ray and poly eat them whole or would i have to dissemble the crayfish prior to throwing it in my tank?

Yes the aquaclear line uses sponges for mechanical filters. I have found it to work great.
