Best filter for a 55g?

Honestly an FX5 on a 55g sounds like overkill, But I guess you can never have too much filtration.

I think an Eheim would be the best as they are virtually silent.

I personally like AC110 for tanks under 90g. Easy care and cheaper on the long run bc you can just rinse the Foam and reuse it. Slap all Bio on from mid to bottom and foam on top for easy extraction, 5min or less filter maintenance

Dual Eheim Classic 2217 or Eheim Classic 2217 plus an AC110 or dual AC110's.

my ultra old 55g had a millenium 3000 and a aqueon quiet filter lol

XP2 or XP3 is what I'd go with.
Never had any problems with my xp2, and I could go 2 months or more before I had to clean it, had it on a overstocked 46bow. Flow never seemed to slow down. Way quieter than my emperor 400. It's now on my growout 29g and I haven't cleaned it since I set it up in march. Still working like a champ.
