ewwww Eheim 2217... at least get one with trays, I hate no tray canisters mainly because it is a pain to separate the media for cleaning...

It's good to bag your loose media even if you have trays.

I would go with XP3s also.

On my 110gal Ive got a FX5 and an XP3 :D Working great.

Thanks for all the info guys!
By average bio load..

I Have Four Hujeta
1 Upside down catfish
1 Clown pleco(4" max)
1 African Brown Knife..

None of those are poo machines and in 4x2x2 tank there will be lots of space!

what? 279 for an XP3?

Are you sure you don't mean the fluval FX5?

they are like 279, but not the XP3's..

Rena Xp3 being 279.99$ :\ inflated prices in canada maybe!?
maybe ill just have to get those AC110's there 100$ here.

4x2x2 is 120 gallons and not 100... not that it maters... anyway the most cost effective system would be a single Emporer 400... (around $60.00 with an add on perminate supercartrage) ... A Fluval 405 ($120.00) and an air driven hydro5. ($30.00 including air pump.)

One of the drawbacks to euro braced 4x2 footprint tanks is room to hang anything on the back.

in my opinion the heck with all the cannisters. go with a good w/d. by far cheaper especially if u make ur own. with a good w/d you will have filtration enough to not need anything other than the bio media and floss. but if u do decide you need more types of filtration there's always extra room in the sump for anything u need. ammonia removing stuff, buffer, heater, whatever.
