So, Saturday I drove to Ocean City MD for a brand new 110 gallon tank I won on ebay for $150.

I had been debating on what I want to put in it, and I decided Cichlids. I HATE SA Cichlids, so I decided on African Cichlids.

Don't ask why I hate SA's... because I don't really know why. I do love JD's though.

Anywho.. Came across an add on CL in my area for free African Cichlids.

This is what I will be picking up this Saturday: :headbang2

Ruby Red African Peacock (Adult)
Yellow Lab Female (Adult)
Yellow Lab Female (Adult)

Hybrids- orange/black, blue w/light stripes (juveniles)
4-5 catfish (no idea what kind)
Pleco- zebra pleco
Chinese Algae Eaters
Pitbull pleco

Most will stay, some will go, but man am I excited.

Nice score! No better feeling than getting an awesome deal! I have gotten all my tanks of craigslist. If you are patient you will find great deals. I'm not a fan of chiclids in general but a zebra pleco! Nice! Is it the true one or the false? Either way they're cool lookin.

I don't know, but he said it was expensive, so I am hoping it's a true. I have wanted one forever!

I will post pics once I get them. I just got my brother set up with a 55 gallon for his b-day, so what I don't want, I am going to give to him. After all he's 37 and has only ever had silver dollars. lol.

haha yeah get him on MFK and he will upgrade forsure! Post pics definitely. I have always wanted a zebra pleco as well....untill I found out their max size is 3-4" :(

Hate SA cichlids, what did they ever do to you  Just joking around. And Jack dempseys are CA cichlids. Nice pick up, better stock that african tank up. I had about 60 africans in my 125.

I have 4 Frontosas now (5-8''), and I am getting 12 more (4'' and under) as well as 4 Calvus. Well, they aren't calvus, but they look exactly the same except their color. I am getting 3 gold, and 1 black. Don't remember the name of them, but it's a long one. Don't know if I should put them in there as well, or would they be cramped?

A lot of people get bored of African cichlids after the first year or so. Just sayin' you might wanna reconsiderr

Well, they are all going to be moved into a 1500 gallon tank in a few months, so I am pretty sure there's going to be a lot of entertainment.

I am going to school to be a vet, and I want to specialize in fish, so the more the merrier. :) Fronts are my all time favorite though. Even though they are slow and boring, they really are fascinating.

What do you recommend I get instead? I am keeping the fronts regardless. I was going to get a Datnoid, but I can't find any nice ones around here. Was told that they clean up as they get larger... is this true?

By clean up do you mean stabilize? It is unlikely that if they are unstable as juveniles they will stable up as adults. Also, their growth is incredibly slow, it will take around 3-5 years to get to adult size of an Indonesian datnoid. Datnoids need more than 110g when big and will NOT mix with africans. Take a look at the datnoid section to get some info
