By clean up do you mean stabilize? It is unlikely that if they are unstable as juveniles they will stable up as adults. Also, their growth is incredibly slow, it will take around 3-5 years to get to adult size of an Indonesian datnoid. Datnoids need more than 110g when big and will NOT mix with africans. Take a look at the datnoid section to get some info

yeah, that's what I meant, and I wasn't sure. If it takes years, then a 110 will suit a 2 inch dat for some time.

I didn't think Dats and Africans mixed, but the marine biologist at this big fish place in my area was determined to tell me that I can do it. I wasn't sure. Glad I know now.

What do you recommend I look into?

Where did you go to talk to a marine biologist? Was it That Fish Place? If so what was their name? I know most of the employees there (I used to work there).

Yeah, I spoke with Craig. he's been rather helpful with things, but sometimes I don't believe a word he says. I don't really think he's a marine biologist.. just a name they give their fish people.

Craig is a moron. He is NOT a marine biologist but parades around telling people he is. TFP does have marine biologist on staff. If you go in again and have questions ask for Jose. Hes very knowledgable and a good friend of mine.

Thanks for letting me know. He was trying to sell me this gold Calvus for $100 saying it was rare, and I just got dibs on a wild caught one for $10. haha. He told me that my Fronts would eat a Bichir (a 12'' long one)

He tried telling me that my Fronts are SUPER cramped in their 75 gallon. There is only 4, and the largest is pushing 8''. There is also nothing else in the tank except 4 little hiding spots for them. haha. I know they need bigger eventually, but yeah... haha. He was urging it like do it right now!

I will be going there this week to pick up a filter part, so I will stop in and see if he's there.

Thanks sooo much!

Jose is the man especially with cichlids. Hes taught me most of what I know and I look up to him a lot. I need to head up there soon to pick up some more fish but idk what im getting yet.

Well, the guy told me yesterday that his friend wanted one fish because that's all he had room for in his tank.

The guy told me today that he let his friend take them all.

If you know that the guy doesn't have room, why would you let the guy have them? I don't care if it's a friend or not. Fish are living things. I have a completely empty 110 gallon tank waiting to be stocked, yet he chose to give them to some guy who obviously doesn't care much about fish if he even admits to being overstocked while getting more fish.

Seriously! WTF?!!

Damn. Seems like u wanna give that 110 huh? Ok you convinced me. Ill take it. :)

haha. NO. I want to stock it. But I don't want to pay $11 a pop for 1'' fish.

So, Saturday I drove to Ocean City MD for a brand new 110 gallon tank I won on ebay for $150.

I had been debating on what I want to put in it, and I decided Cichlids. I HATE SA Cichlids, so I decided on African Cichlids.

Don't ask why I hate SA's... because I don't really know why. I do love JD's though.

Anywho.. Came across an add on CL in my area for free African Cichlids.

This is what I will be picking up this Saturday: :headbang2

Ruby Red African Peacock (Adult)
Yellow Lab Female (Adult)
Yellow Lab Female (Adult)

Hybrids- orange/black, blue w/light stripes (juveniles)
4-5 catfish (no idea what kind)
Pleco- zebra pleco
Chinese Algae Eaters
Pitbull pleco

Most will stay, some will go, but man am I excited.

Congrats. Glass or acrylic?
