Best fish to breed and make money

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well when he was here it wasnt letting him join. And he went back home (2hrs away) but he sounded very serious. So he is looking around for as many big tanks as he can get. He has around 20 20g and 10 40g already.

Thats more than enough tanks to start a breeding operation. You could easily breed around 20 different species and get a good harvesting rate for each.

You have to be a problem solver to breed and make money. If he can not solve the issue of joining and gave up.. how is he going to make money at breeding?

If he's a very busy person with work then maybe breeding fish for profit isn't an option. Or maybe he can pay somebody to take care of his 30 tanks full of fry. Since money is no object in starting up this business maybe a computer and internet access could be part of his operating expenses for research, acquiring quality livestock, and increasing his customer base.

If money is not an issue then a 125 with about 20 L46 plecos would be the place to start. $150-200 per fish for captive bred fish and with the Belo Monte basically wiping out their native habitat in the wild, he ll be helping to preserve the species

About 5k investment needs tons of current, 86 degree water, darkness and are carnivores. Finding buyers is not easy for this species though. Be ready to ship fish.

Ya if he has the money to this would be a crazily important project. He can entirely save the species which would be absolutlety amazing. But I highly doubt this said person is willing to spend a couple grand on a bunch of fish when he doesnt know what hes doing. But, if the funding is available this would be an amazing step towards stopping endangerment towards a species. That would be an amazing goal and many people on here would appreciate him for thaf

Haven't been here long and I've seen that, mean people are everywhere though haha

I would like to breed bichirs at some point and grow them out to a good like 4 to 5 inch and aquabid them off, waiting for a tank upgrade in a few months lol.

If you think about it oscars would be a great fish for this plan. Ops friend could go buy about 30 baby oscars from all over and grow them out and slowly seperate them and then you can sell the leftover oscars and start a breeding project with whatever pairs he can get and put them in either small ponds or a couple over filtered 75s. Then you can raise all the fry in a 100+ gallon barebottom and grow them to about 2" and sell them all for $10 a piece. Oscars are surprisingly expensive if you think about it and they are high in demand in the aquarium hobby.

You would be lucky to get $2.00 apiece wholesale - a 2"+ oscar goes for $6.00 retail around here.

I have a breeding trio of zebras I'm going to be selling on aqua bid soon so keep a look it for it.
