:) What is the best fish to breed for feeders? im talking about, cleanest fish to feed, the easiest to breed, and the fish that breeds at the fastest rate.. Who has had good experience with what
??

So convicts are the best answer i take it... How many Male to Female Ratio in just a 55G? 1 male 3 females? Are they hard to sex when there 2" roughly? how big until they mateb usually.. and how fast do the fry grow? would convicts be compatible with some blue lobsters? if not who cares..
Sorry to be asking so many questions but it seems like a really good idea to do. will save me some money, and finally put my 55 back to use, its all connected with a brand new filte ronly used for 2 weeks, but last thing in it were some paint turtles..

You only really need a male and a female to get fry but in a 55 you could do 2 pairs and hope they take one side of the tank each. That'd sure mean a lot of fry though, hope your other fish are hungry enough :naughty:

if u have that 55gal... id go for cons vs any livebeares cos
1. they lay 100+eggs at one go vs 20+livebearer baby minus the ones that will be eaten.
2. cons will normally have another batch of frys w/in 2wks period vs than a month from livebearers.
3. in my experience, con fry grow twice as fast as that of any livebearers.
4. i love cons. :P

u can to 2 pair on that 55g, try 1pair black and 1 pair of pinks :)
have fun! oh yeah... and ill suggest u learn how to hatch brine shrimps.

Thanks ALot everyone... Im going to set this up as soon as i go home from School.. i will try both a blk pair and a pink pair.. but is it that easy to distinguish the sexes when there very young? thanks again

You shouldn't have a problem finding a male and female.. People are trying to get rid of them all the time everywhere in the whole universe LOL..

If you are having probs though.. Go to the lfs and buy 10 for 5 to 10 dollars total and then watch for a couple months.. But your bhest bet is to buy a few small ones and find a male 3 to 4" will be a male females never reach taht size.. I'd give you my female .. But your way over there LOL... I am going with HRP's... Not only are they breed the same as the more common regular and pink.. But the are much better looking in my opinion :)

for clarification whats an HRP?,and let me get this right... get a male or 2 that i KNOW are male at around 3" and then get about 5 female? for a 55.. and for decor should i just use rocks and a little bit of driftwood? plants necessary? and for them to lay there egss? slate work? i dont like the looks of PVC or clay pots. in tanks tooo FAKE FOR ME,,,, i really appreciate all your time and asnwers everyone
