where can i find those ? here in Canada the only ones i've seen were Albino , tiger , and the red oscar so i have limited choices

Might not be available in Canada. Here in the US you have to order them from a vendor like Jeff Rapps who stocks them and specializes in cichlids. Out of those three you listed I prefer the tigers.

yeah i was thinking so also , the ablino's looks like there deformed :/

Thanks to everyone who participated in this thread !
My stock is going to be : a(n) Oscar, Gold Severum , 2-3 Cons and a pleco

I prefer the wild coloration of oscars.

+1, but like stated earlier their not too common.

If you do get black and blue gravel, I think a albino would actually look better on it, even though I don't like albinos at all. A regular Tiger Oscar just wouldn't look good with that substrate, if you get any other substrate than definatly get a tiger O.

I prefer gravel (black) sand is a pain in the azz to me. Ruined my aquaclear 500 filter. Also my large cactus pleco years sponge filters apart. So gravel works better for me.

I use pool filter sand without any issues. I've never lost any pumps or other equipment to sand issues. It's easy to clean and heavy enough to not float around when disturbed. I tried play sand before but I found it to be too light. It floated around too much when disturbed. To me pool filter sand is the better option of the two. I also have gravel in one tank that I will be switching to sand soon. Food and waste are easily trapped in the spaces between the gravel. Unlike sand, my gravel bottom tanks take longer to clean because I have to make sure that everything is picked up from the spaces in the gravel. With sand, the waste stays on top where it is easily taken up.
