I'm hoping that someone can point in the right direction in terms of what the best feeding option is for my Peacock Eel. I feed him blood worms but it's a bit tricky because they float at the surface and he likes to stay at the bottom of his tank. I know he's eating them occasionally but it's hard to get him to the surface where they float before the other fish devour them.

Is there a sinking food option that I could be feeding him? What should I do?

i had the same problem when i was feeding my tt eel. i usually feed him whole pieces of krill from the store or i drop in some earthworms. try hand feeding your eel to get him use to coming up for his food. now my eel comes right to the surface for food. :headbang2

I assume you're talking about freeze dried blood worms. Try frozen blood worms, they sink to the bottom and most LFS carry them. (at least around here.)

for me, its live blackworms from a lfs. i use a turkey baster and just put it near the eel and it lunges at the sight and eats right away

Try earthworms. You can buy some from a local bait shop, or maybe even a general/convenience store. Don't be afraid to put your hand in the tank and bring the worm right to him. Most eels LOVE live worms. Depending on his size, you may have to cut it in half, or smaller. The best option IMO.

I agree with the earthworms. My eel won't touch frozen bloodworms, beef heart or live ghost shrimp. I deliver red wigglers to his face via long pinchers (the pruner/pincher you find at petsmart) and it will suck the worms out of the claw. Or just drop them right on its head! If this doesn't work, there are special foods out there that have some garlic laced into them. The garlic will get them to eat more readily.
