i fed it some cheese and it seemed to enjoy the quality of sargento. but will that hurt it any?

probably.... RTCs aren't meant to eat cheese also, keep in mind this sucker will get 4 feet long as an adult, so you better have a nice big tank that's at least 8 feet long and 4-5 feet wide, or a pond of similar size for when he is an adult.

it probably won't hurt if just as a treat, like no more than once a week. Keep in mind that terrestrial proteins contain a lot more saturated fats (much less water soluble) than animal fats of aquatic origin. So you might give him a little fishy heart attack! just kidding, mostly.

mine is 8 inches he eats gold fish about 15 at a time
