I have 3 sevs, 2 gold and one green, They eat rosies, bloodworms, nightcrawlers, krill, Hikari Bio gold, Hikari Gold, Hikari staple (which has more greens in it) Wardley cichlid crumbs, Spirulina flakes, plankton, Mysis, spirulina brine shrimp, Ocean Nutrition Formula one...etc. I used to have duck weed, and various Hygrophilia, but they pretty much munched those away. I have no more duckweed now, and just a few shoots of Hygro. They graze constantly. And as for eating out of my hands, I hope they don't try to eat them. Of all my SA cichlids, only my Green Terror won't eat out of my hands. My pike, severums, angels all have ate out of my hands since the 3rd day I had them.

Spirulina is great, though mine isn't interested in it much either. I have had luck getting her to eat certain greens. We have these "Algae Balls" up here that she loves. It's a bit bigger than a golf ball and is almost perfectly round. It's some sort of algae, mossy like plant. That's all I can tell you thus far. Don't know what species it usually is, but it's a deep green moss like ball that she nibbles on daily. And of course a good protein pellet is the staple of her diet. Kens Fish, Hikari, or Omega One

Just keep in mind the best food is varied for all fish, some specialize in only one thing, where others vary greatly in their food intake. So try to offer a varied diet.
