Best food for young FH's?

Thanks for all the advice! NLS is my normal go-to for staple, so I think I'll just stick with that for now. He's eating the crushed betta pellets and decapped brine currently but will move him/her onto cichlid bites once he gets a little larger.
His feeders would only be culls from my betta and guppy spawns, I won't be feeding him any store bought feeders because I'm so paranoid about disease lol I have had columnaris one too many times in my life..

I'll look into different color enhancers and minerals once he gets a bit larger and actually starts showing some color besides the black. I was sent pictures of the parents before I bought this guy and they looked pretty nice. Nothing MP, but nice none the less. Mom was really pearly and dad had some, dad didn't have the largest kok but had one and was colorful...
Can anyone tell me what the average growth rate on these guys is? And what a good pH and gH is? Seems like most of my fish don't have the best growth rates besides changing water multiple times a day, after every feeding and my water is always kept at 82* to promote growth, but for some reason it seems slow. Especially with the Betta's. maybe I should add some RO water?

I like to feed my .5-2.5" frys fbw 2 times a day and throw in a few tetra granules.found out they dont really eat nls cichalasoma bc I kept throwing it in thinking they would eat but ends up in the tank bottom lol
