Best food to get new rays eating

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Look Buddy add salt, i've been keeping discus for a while now and if things get really bad a do a salt dip until he starts rolling then put him back in the tank. ADD THE SALT! trust me if anything it will save you much heartache to come. it seems weird at first i know but it does do a lot. its kinda like if you get a cut or something and you soak it in epsom salts. same thing except for fish

If i were you i would make my water soft, really soft (5,8-6,4) before doing anything else. WC black rays and seriously breeded ones are very sensitive to water hardness changes, and on the other side the harder the water the more toxic the NH3/NH4 will be. So soften the water theyre in (if you havent yet), and then see for a couple of hours what happens. Ussually you can see if they start to settle in about 2 hours.
I´ve never had to use salt, but many raykeepers use it with good results, so is good to keep this in mind when dealing with damaged specimens.
Watch them very close for a couple of days.....
Good luck.....and please keep us updated.....

Best regards
Ernesto Roa.

Not a good idea to change wate params in a situation like this. From soft water to hard water and back to soft water is almost gauranteed instant death from all the pH shock.

:iagree:

Im not talking about make the change in a few hours but in a few days....i agree it´ll be a crime to do it right now!!!. My fault not to tell.
Some of the rays i´ve worked with came in very bad condition when arrived from Peru, Colombia and Brasil, but for most of them good soft water was the only medicine.....some other got Prazi, and maybe 3% of them got force feeding till they were strong enough. Thats why i reccomend to low the hardness......allways gradually !!!.....

Again and again....im sorry for my english :)
