whats the best food for cichlids in ur opinion? i have been using hikari cichlid gold pellets, jus seein wat else others use

Variety is the spice of life.

I use Hikari as well, but I also suppliment with Brine Shrimp, Mysis Shrimp, River Shrimp, Blood Worms, Sinking Shrimp Pellets, Tubifex, Beef Heart/Ground Beef and Guppy Feeders.

There are several threads discussing this. If you do a search, you will find a lot of info.

I use Hikari and NLS pellets. As JTRG05 said, variety is key.

these food are below average, i bet their protein is under 45%. Best cichlid food will be chingmix(55% protein, fish grow faster), follow by grandsumo. And krill has highest protein, but lack of other vitamins, etc.

I feed Hikari Bio-Gold+ and Omega One pellets, supplemented mainly with a variety of shrimps . . .

I never feed bloodworms or tubifex, as I have had bad luck in the past with parasites . . . which went away after I stopped

i use chingmix because i get it for free. but i don't use it for any special reason. same growth as hikari gold. i actually got jag cichlids and kept them in seperate tanks. fed one group chingmix and the other hikari gold. grew about the same if anything in hikari golds favor. better color, more active, and ate more. just over priced overseas **** that can write w/e they want on the label b/c it's overseas. like lead paint toys from china

My staple is cichlid gold, but I may switch to the new cichlid excel for my africans. It has spirulina which is so much better for them. I also supplement with any leftover krill from my saltwater tank. Then I have like 3 other pellets that I feed. They all love african cichlid attack.
