so i remembered reading a thread that said silversides caused early death, my question is what foods do u guys recommend? Ive finalyl started to starve my three armatus and theyre charging up to the silversides that i toss in,so would u guys recommend continuing with the silversides or to start again w shrimp, tilapia, or salmon?

That question is going to open a can of worms ....

That being said, I suggest pellets, but it can be very difficult to get them on pellets .... tilapia filets, and some other fish filets people have had a lot of success using .... I haven't gotten an Armatus over 2 feet so can't say what I'm feeding is correct, but pellets are always great from what I've seen and heard .... I had 2 die on me at the 11 inch mark, and I think it was linked to feeding them too much smelt .... silversides can be used to wean off live, however feeding them all the time can possibly lead to the same smelt related deaths .... the one I have now is about 15 inches and has eaten pellets since he was 3-4 inches and is doing great, won't even look at other food

I'm not an expert in payara's but I know variety is key. I'd say feed them a wide variety of different types of fish, krill, pellets, and whatever else you can think of and that you can get them to eat.

I agree sashimi, with those teeth it sucks to feed pellets, but the bottom line is I can't deny the health of my fish once they began eating pellets as the major part of their diet .... do I want to eat vegetables and salads? Hell no, but I'll live a longer and healthier life than if I eat pizza and hamburgers only

And yes variety is the key, but I still think the staple should be pellets whether they are stuffed into tilapia or not .... the whole stuffing process is a bit tedious and annoying, but it is worth it for the health of the fish

i feed mine with salmon fillets.

I rotate tilapia,raw shrimp,swai,and currently,like lix,salmon.

Tilapia and shrimp is what I use, mine still wont touch pellets even if I stuff his food.

Live feeders until it's 8"+ then smelt or tilapia until it's 12"+ then mackerel.
