when the first time i adopt a plat senegal.2 best friend of mine gave me an advice they said don't feed a plat with shrimp to avoid the occurrence of red spots on their skin when the plat grew up.i trust them coz they are a collector of plat bichir.i only feed earthworms to my plat :D

I have been feeding my babys, feeders(Guppies/swords)/hake/lance fish/blood worms/massivore pallets, am have had pretty decent growth rate with them, i have currently grown 10 7cm endi's and two ornates, to about 15cms in the last 2 months, i try to do a 50% water change every third day.

Mine eats bloodworms, shrimp, earthworms, and sinking carnivore pellets on a regular basis.

mine gorges on bloodworms and I saw him doing the death roll on a peice of tilapia intended for my catfish the other day. What size should he be before I try him with rosy reds(he's only about 3" now). Also mine wont touch pellets, They are small sinking cichlid pellets and larger shrimp pellets in the tank and he doesnt care about any, but the minute a bloodworm hits the tank zoom...omnomnomnomnom.

Why no goldfish to a bichir or is that just young bichirs I saw one web site and that was what they were feeding them. I have a saddled bichir in a 200g 4x4 tank with 5 gouramis and some convicts that just hatched out a batch about 2 or 3 weeks ago I thought he would eat the cons at night but he doesnt touch them. It seems like nothing will eat baby cons do they taste bad or what because I believe the bichir could almost eat the parents.
