Best frozen vegetables for plecos?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i blanch storebought zucchini because it kills any fungus that might be on the skin, but this summer when i grew zucchini and served it right out of the garden i didn't do anything to it. the fresh zuc didn't have any fungus problems and stayed hard until the plecos finished eating it (2-3 days). store-bought can only stay in less than 24hrs before it turns to mush, even if you don't blanch it first.

I do occasionally get those fresh, it's just that honestly, I can't stand that stuff, and we don't have those veggies around the house. When its that time of year, I'll get one just for those guys every now and then. They just seem so finiky, maybe they eat when I sleep. I was hoping to buy a bag of maybe frozen peas, I won't use canned 'cause of added salt, or is that bad? maybe carrots? That way I know at least they would get their veggies...

blanched the zukes and put in freezer bags ..have them sliced and ready..and hope you eat some veggies!! Same with carrots .. just slice and blanch and freeze ..marked in big letters Pleco's.. haha

Mine like zucchini, peas, romaine and other greens but weren't interested in potatoe at all. Guess they are watching their carb intake.
