I was w I wondering if a bare bottom tank is best for a grow tank or is a decorated tank better? what are your guys thought

Two electric blue jacks a arowana and a arapima for my 500g and eventually the arapima will go in a pond.
There all small and in a 55g but it has gravel and decor for hiding im just wondering if a bar tank would spead things up becuz they would have more room and it would be easier to clean but I dont want to stress them out and have them get sick or potentially even die that like 400$ worth of fish the jacks are about 3-4 inches the aro is about 4-5 inches and the arapima is about 5-6 inches
Cant they will get eaten by my 15 inch leopard spotted cat or my 15 inch aro I used this same 55 gal tank to get my aro from4 inches to 10 inches befor the transfer and the cat from 5 to 9 inches so yes will both be huge in a couple months but for now the 55g is very big for them.
Why not the pima hes only 5 inches and has plenty of room he wont be ok untill he reaches 8 or 9 inches why not?
