Best Heater ever used

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have the stealth and my only complaint so far is that I can't really tell if it on or not. They gotta put an indicator light on that thing. Ebo jagers, I've had them for years and no complaint from me.

I really like my new ebo jager heater. I also have a couple of the rena heaters and they are okay. I think from now on, I will be getting jagers'.

@ 78 degrees:
Stealth - dead 7 months
Jager - cooked FOWLR tank 1.5 years - also a friend had 3, all 3 cooked tanks at different times over the course of 1 year of use, he used them for breeding discus
Visitherm - from my experience die after 3 years, no issues until then (had on every tank until they died, then switched looking for longevity)
Rena Digital Ti - currently at 5 months, no issues, temp only varies .5 degree - best that i've used yet on Reef system

wow SteveO, you had some bad luck with heaters, can there be something affecting the life of your heaters? do you get a lot of change in temperature where you live?

that is some bad luck with heaters. i just now got rid of a penn-plax hang on heater that we have been useing for over 15 years with no problems i kid you not.

however i have had a couple go wacko on me and fry the fish, especially when a big blue gill breaks then in half. O_o

If you use a canister filter I really reccommend the hydor inline heaters. It's nice that you have less equpment in the aquarium and that fish can't burn themselves/break them. I've had mine for about 2 years and haven't had any problems. I also have a visitherm stealth in the sump on my new aquarium. It's only been a few months but the temp is always spot on.

I've heard that ebo jager heaters used to be the best around but that a lot of people have been having problems with them recently. I wonder if their manufacturing has been outsourced to a new place.

I have a really old Ebo Jagger 200w heater that is still working and is still very accurate. I think I had it for over 15 years.

I just bought a new Ebo Jagger with the new black look. I think they look real nice and they hide really well up against my black background. A lot better than the green like my old one.

:screwy: do you have a GFCI outlet or a Surge Protection outlet? seems its due to spikes if their are spikes and lightnings it will easily burn your equipment if you don't have the proper protection needed. but if it has... sorry to hear that seems pure bad luck on the equipments.:(
