Best LED light fixture on the market!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use the marineland on my small planted tanks...20 gallons...and they do great. I would think the 29 would be ok. I also use the ecoxotic on my 150 and am happy with them. I have 3. They are my "low" lights. I would need a lot more to really light it up in may opinion.

My 150 is only 48" long but 30" deep. The depth was my challange....these lights penetrate. The marineland does not. Halide or high power tubes produce more light no doubt but with far more wattage and heat. Do you think my tank looks dim? What else do you use on your 150? I would love to see pics!

Hey Ken, nicely done! I read where you were talking these up...and now I see why! Your tank doesn't look dim at all, and it's nice being able to have different intensities or settings. I have a plain ol' Marineland 48" fixture on my 30" deep 150. It seems to penetrate pretty decent, but if doesn't do so well front to back. If I slide it back, my background shows up much better, but the front of my holey rock looks dark. If I slide it forward, the rock looks good, but the background looks pretty dark.

I haven't spent any huge money for awhile...I might have to give this a shot.

Thanks for posting this! Nicely done :)

I have the Marineland double brights on my 40g and like them. I also have two Ecoxotic modules for my 150g which, if I ever get it set up, is going to look awesome. I tried them out once on the empty tank and was really impressed with the light they put out. Your pictures only supported that for me. Can't wait!

I was considering the double brights for a new 100g build. I think this has changed my mind! Thanks for the review.

They look pretty good. But at $95 each, I'd rather go the DIY route and end up with something 10x better and more flexibility, including color choice and dimming. If DIY isn't for you, then this is a good option.

BTW, those marineland fixtures are garbage. Way overpriced for the light they produce.

And I doubt you'll be growing anything with these lights. Like the 'stunner' strips, these are mainly to be used for accent lighting, as they are fairly low output LEDs. For a fish-only tank, it's fine.

Ecoxotic Panorama Strips have 12 older technology 1 watt emitters (vs. the 2.4 watt high PUR emitters used in the AquaBeam 500 & 600s). More emitters are required due the lack of precision (useful energy output, etc).

That said, while the Ecoxotic Panorama Strips are not of the technology level of the TC 500/600s strips with the latest patented CRee emitters, these are still a big improvement on the “Stunner” and can be considered for Reef Tanks (just more strips are needed than the TMC AquaBeam 600 Reef White as an example). A popular model is the Panorama Module 8000K/453nm Actinic Blue, consists of 8 white lights and 4 blue lights.

The newer Ecoxotic Panorama Retro 36 is closer to the higher end LEDs produced by TMC, even then the emitters are still not of the high output useful light energy bins, and worse Ecoxotic’s approach to patents for the emitters they are using is “go ahead and sue me”, not the kind of company I think any honest person should support. There is a reason that the better LEDs such as the TMC AquaRays are priced as they are; It is called licensing.

jcardona is correct. I have 156 led's built into my catalina 48" light. absolutly worthless for plant growth. would'nt even grow my floating plants. not much of a shimmering effect either. but they really do bring out the colors of my fish.

I tried out the "stunner" strips and found them weak. These are far better! I am letting the pics speak for themselves! I could not care less about patents and marketing....I just want nice lighting!
