Best light for tanning

tanning lights in theory should have UVA and UVB rating.

the principle of tanning was discovered cos of pond arowanas showing more intense colour, this was then narrowed down (apparently) to the sunlight.

other fish benefit from sun too, and their colours become better.

i would recommend anything with UVA and UVB, best to use a reptile desert bulb, arcadia has a d3 product with 12% uVB, highest in the market, but its easy to find 10% to 11% bulbs out there,

make sure you buy a reputalbe brand! what reptile keepers would use, because they are very particular with UVA and UVB ratings.

arcadeia is good, its rated with UVA and UVB, uvb on arcadia arowana tanning light is only 5% and also the light has a fake red colour to it.
the fake red colour will artificially enhance your arowana viewed by the human eye, id ont like this.
best to use a white light.

but many in asia prefer red light - it seems to be standard,
but red lights can make even silver arowana 'look red'
