i normaly take a trip down to the creek and catch minnows, crayfish, worms, any nymphs and insects i find in the water and what not and normaly find a cricket and a fly or two from around the house to feem my SM but what the best thing to feed it in the winter, im trying to convert it to pellets but with little sucsess. i was thinking of trying some frozen bloodworms and stuff of that nature but wasnt sure. i know i wanna vary the diet and try to stay away from store feeders. i was thinking of gutloading crickets and mealworms and feed them him. i have some great cricket gut load that worked really good for my geckos but would the vitamins and stuff works well for the fish 2?

i would try and get the small mouth on to floating pellets, then supplement its diet about 2 times a week with crickets, or whatever you can catch, frozen bloodworms are an easy alternative. stay away from store feeders,

you may also buy some small shrimp and feed them these every once in a while

almost every sunfish i have ever had eventually got to the point that if i threw something in the tank they ate it or tried to, constantly supplying live food is very inconvenient and from what i have been able to learn probably unnecessary

Pet store feeders...Quarantine them though!

I don't know about a duck, but a nice sized elk, should probably feed him all winter.
