where can you get them cheaply?
LFS and websites list them $80+

Local auctions... (IE find you local fish club) and even then they will be ~50. Though wilds often tend to go cheaper just since the demand for them are a lot lower.

big wilds certainly arent cheaper... maybe if you can find little wilds (good luck).

If you want cheaper fish, buy juveniles and raise them to adults. Adults to tend to run 70-100+ dollars, depending on size and strain.

I really like wild blues, and blue turqs myself.

Right now i have 2 discus breeding, a wild blue and a leopard .

Heh... the last local (AAAA) auction ~3-4 inch wilds from Ken Davis were going for less the 25 bucks... It all depends on what the public want, and well there just is less of a demand for wild discus then there are for the domestic. (The reason the prices can be hi is that there are less wilds available...)

Wilds can be hard to find at times. Most "true" wilds for sale are adults. I've seen some as big as man's open hand. I would be leery of someone selling small wild fish, as they are likely offspring of wilds. That would make them tank raised in my mind. :D

Eh... that isn't true at all. Often people only grab the fry and leave the parents when catching wild fish... IE it is much easier and cheaper to ship many small fish than it is to ship one large adult wild.
