best malawi's to get

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it could also be a N. livingstoni, but the same rule would apply...best to move them to another tank

Okay thanks. I haven't had any problems with anyone yet so I am going to keep and eye out for anything that might happen. Is there a fish that is like a yellow lab but a different color that could be put in the tank. I am just trying to get as many different colored fish. My other freshwater tank is kind of boring in the fact that I don't have much color and wanted to make this tank very bright. Another question I have is when the females are ready to give birth do they do anything crazy that I should look out for. I have a female that looks like it is getting fat and ready to burst.

I highly recommend what is commonly called a hongi or red top kipuma.
They are also labidochromis. They are purple with orange fins.

your cichlids are mouth brooders i believe...so if the belly's growin, it might be a bloat...i think its from overfeeding? or a very high protein diet.

sounds like a pretty fish...you have a picture of this fish?

Here is a pic of my hongi. He's fairly young but has good colors so far...
